What do I bring?
Daypack
This should be comfortable and a good waistband that transfers some of the weight to the hips is most important. It needs to be big enough to take a jacket, fleece, water, camera and odds and ends.
Boots
For a comfortable trek you need comfortable feet. Ladies, no high heels or fancy shoes! Gents, runners are not good enough. For the trekking we will be doing, good boots are imperative. Good boots have: good ankle support, plenty of toe room for long descents, a stiff sole to lessen twisting torsion, and are light because with every step you lift your boot up.
Socks
In the low country your feet will be warm or even hot while walking so quality cotton mix sports socks are best. Three to four pairs are enough.
Camp shoes
At the end of the day your feet needs some air, so bring some sandals or running shoes.
Fleece top
Most trekkers consider this essential, but alternatives are a thick thermal top or a light down jacket. In Kathmandu you can get cheap Korean fleeces but they lack that essential style.
Wind/rain jacket
Waterproof and breathable. Plastic ponchos or non-breathable raincoats are not suitable.
The comprehensive list can be found on the conference, so please be sure to check it!

Passport and Visa information
In order to be permitted entry into Nepal, we all have to have visas.
As we need to process visa applications WELL before we leave for Nepal, we will need to collect passports ASAP. I understand that some students may be going away for the October break, and therefore require a passport to leave the country. Students who are not going away during the October break, should bring their passports into me ASAP so that we can keep them safe under lock and key.
Students who are going away for the break, need to make sure that their passports are in by November 2nd at the latest. The applications will be sent away on Monday afternoon.
In addition to their passports students will need:
*one COMPLETED application form-this can be printed off and filled in by the students. It is in the student conference on first class.
*one passport sized photo
Please fill in the application form and bring it in with the photo AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
Thank-you,
Ms. Hosick
